The Travel & Tourism department offers an exciting and varied curriculum for Sixth Form students.
The travel and tourism industry is one of the largest sectors in the world with 334 million people working globally in the industry.
By enrolling on the Travel & Tourism Diploma, you could be a part of it.
Throughout the course of two years, you will learn and develop many transferable skills that you can take to the workplace or on to a travel related degree at university.
Trips
To enhance the course there are various trips in the UK to theme parks, Butlin’s, Christmas markets, the Lincolnshire Show and other local attractions.
At Easter 2022, we will be taking an overseas visit to Morocco (Covid permitting).
In the second year of the course, you will take part in a week’s work experience within the travel industry.

How you will be assessed
- 8 units marked internally
- 2 units marked externally consisting of a 90 minute exam and a piece of controlled assessment
The department teachers bring a wealth of experience, enthusiasm and passion having worked in the travel industry for many years as Cabin Crew, In-flight Managers, Airline recruiters and trainers for new cabin crew.
We follow a BTEC Level 3 syllabus.
It is a two year course (equivalent to 2 x A Levels)
Progression

On completion of the two year course there are various progression options and typically students in the past have either studied a travel related degrees at university such as:
- International Tourism Management
- Tourism Management
- Events Planning
- Marketing
- Business
On completion of the course some students have gone straight into jobs such as Holiday Reps, Cabin Crew, working in travel agents, hotels and tourist attractions.
