Pupils develop understanding of the nature, processes and methods of science through different types of science enquiries that allows them to answer scientific questions about the world around them. Pupils are equipped with the scientific knowledge required to understand the uses and implications of science, today and for the future. At Key Stage 4 pupils can study separate sciences or combined science. Pupils will be guided to the qualification which aims to maximise potential. At Key Stage 5 we offer OCR A levels in Biology, Chemistry and Physics and a Btec level 3 qualification in Applied Science. Science enrichment Pupils are provided with the opportunity to enrich their science learning with a variety of trips, visits and workshops. These include trips to: The Sanger Institute in Cambridge to learn about the sequencing of the Human Genome. Airbus Defence and Space to take part in a Satellite building workshop and a tour including viewing LISA Pathfinder, Aeolus and ExoMars Rover. The Lovell radio telescope at Jodrell bank to work with live data. The Yorkshire Wildlife Park to learn about endangered species captive breeding programmes. The Cardiac Centre at Lincoln Hospital STEM lectures We have hosted primary schools and shared the delivery of workshops regarding the production of electricity from fruit. The Year 12 Physics students have delivered a Physics extravaganza to Year 7 students with help from the Institute of Physics.
