This Advanced level course is designed to foster an interest in and an appreciation of psychology.

The OCR specification uses a wide range of assessment techniques allowing candidates to demonstrate what they understand and are able to do.

AS LEVEL COURSE CONTENT

Component 1: Research Methods

Planning, conducting, analysing and reporting psychological research across a range of experimental and non-experimental methodologies and techniques.

Component 2: Psychological Themes Through Core Studies

Introduces some of the central areas of investigation in Psychology organised in key themes. Each key theme is represented by a classic and contemporary core study.

ASSESSMENT

Component 1                      Written examination 1 hour 30 minutes - 75 marks            50%

Component 2                      Written examination 1 hour 30 minutes - 75 marks            50%

Component 2: Psychological Themes Through Core Studies         (as above)

Component 3: Applied Psychology

Introduces issues in mental health. Candidates will also study Criminal Psychology and Environmental Psychology applied options.

Component 1                      Written examination 2 hours - 90 marks                                30%

Component 2                      Written examination 2 hours - 105 marks                              35%

Component 3                      Written examination 2 hours – 105 marks                             35%
