Welcome to the Modern Foreign Languages department

Lincoln Christ's Hospital School became a Language College in 2001.  We have a national reputation for innovation and the international dimension that we offer to our pupils within MFL and beyond.  School trips have included visits to France, Germany, Spain, Poland, Russia and China. We currently offer 3 main languages in the department:-

o French
o German
o Spanish

In years 7, 8 and 9, our students study French, German or Spanish.  Thanks to a new curriculum, the vast majority of our new Year 7 students now study two of these three languages.  Many of our Year 8 and 9 pupils also study two languages.  There are also opportunities to study other languages such as Polish.

Students can take either one, two, or even three languages in years 10 and 11. In Key Stage Four we offer:-

o GCSE French
o GCSE German
o GCSE Spanish
o Community Languages

At Advanced level we offer A levels in our 4 main languages.  These courses are studied to AS in Year 12 and A2 in Year 13:-

o A Level French
o A Level German
o A Level Spanish
o Advanced Community Languages

Spanish trip - a yearly trip for Year 9 upwards. Students stay near to Barcelona or in Andalucia.  This year's trip takes place in October and is to Barcelona.

Paris trip - we began this trip in 2015 for Year 9 upwards, visiting central Paris and Disneyland Paris. It takes place every two years.  Details of the next trip, which will take place early next year will be available later this academic year.

German trip - a trip for Year 8 upwards that runs around every 18 months.  Destinations have included Munich and Vienna.

French Day Trip - this trip is for Year 7 only.  Students can go even if they don't study French.  It takes place in June.  Students travel overnight on the coast and visit Boulogne and Calais for the day.
