A huge growth area within the School, the Department currently offers a range of courses at KS5 including: A level Product Design, BTEC Level 2 and 3 Diploma in Engineering and BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Children's Care, Learning and Development. We also offer GCSE Child Development, Food and Nutrition, Product Design Electronics and Graphics at Key Stage 4 aswell as Cambridge National in Engineering.

Our department consists of:

2 Food rooms, 2 Engineering workshops, 2 Wood workshops, 3 ICT suites, and one multi-purpose classroom.

Curriculum:

Within our Design and Technology department we have a wide range of projects and investigations which are both inventive and exciting.  The schemes of work are not only tailored to the requirements of the National Curriculum but also tailor made to suit the needs of our cohort and support our students in their pathways through education and life. Every year we try harder to run activities and fantastic trips around the UK to give our students the opportinities to see what Design & Technology is all about, these include:

  • Engineering Trips to SIEMENS
  • RAF Project and Competition for Y8
